Relay For Life is a community fundraising event organized by the American Cancer Society to support cancer research, patient services, prevention programs, and advocacy.
The event typically includes:
• Survivor's Lap – cancer survivors take the first lap around the track.
• Caregiver Recognition – caregivers are honored for supporting loved ones.
• Team Fundraising – local groups raise money leading up to the event.
• Entertainment & Activities – music, food, games, raffles, and community activities.
• Luminaria Ceremony – decorated luminaria bags are lit to honor survivors and remember those who have passed.
The event’s format reflects that cancer never sleeps, so participants take turns walking to represent the ongoing fight.
